Notes for Colin Arrott WATT
Founded flour mill in Malmsbury. In 1882 Mr Watt, with his large family, was able to select over 1000 acres of highly fertile land in the Koorooman Parish. His homestead, Arrott, on allottment 39, was one of the first homes to be built in the area. when he was appionted a local Justice, he lived four miles north from the embryonic Leongatha township.1
The Mill
To the immediate right is a local landmark; the old bluestone mill which is three storeys high withan additional attic section. It was built in 1856-57 although theoriginal firm went bankrupt early. It is now a restaurant and gallery2
